Daily Learning: 3 May 2020

I spent less time learning from content that I expected today. Instead, I had a long video call with a friend and spent time with my wife. Today, I only watched one video that I found on LinkedIn. It’s on humility and juggling too much work.

Humility

I watched a LinkedIn video by Gary Vaynerchuk. The message that I derived from this video is that if you’re overwhelmed by your commitments, you need to have the humility to accept a loss and shut down one or more of your commitments.

Gary Vee also makes a distinction between being someone who intrinsically enjoys hustling and being someone who has told themselves that they enjoy hustling for some reason, perhaps because they’ve accepted that as the only way to advance in our society.

Lastly, Gary gave an insightful statement on prioritization, so I’ll quote him directly.

“Prioritization comes in the thing that needs it the most… Prioritization is easy. Humility to shut something down is hard.”
