Today I read an essay on decluttering and watched an episode of an online course.
Decluttering
I read an essay by The Minimalists called “Decluttering Doesn’t Work.” Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus emphasize that decluttering for a simpler life isn’t as easy as just getting rid of things. You have to determine why you’re decluttering, what you hope to get out of the process, and what’s going to be different so that you don’t re-clutter and find yourself in this same spot again.
Google Analytics
I continued the “Google Analytics for Beginners” online course. The lessons I completed focused on using the View Full Report feature in Google Analytics.
Some reports, such as the Behavior Overview report and the Audience Overview report, have a data table at the bottom of the report with a button that reads “view full report.” When you click the button, the data table expands. Once you open the full report, you can begin interacting with the data in the data table. Some of the ways you can interact with the data include,
- Select a primary dimension to organize the data. A dimension is “an attribute that can be used to organize data,” such as “Language” in the Audience report or “Page” in the Behavior report.
- Select a secondary dimension (optional) to further organize data for analysis.
- Sort the data by any column header (by clicking the column header).
- Filter using the search bar on the table (there are advanced filtering options, too, but I haven’t learned those yet).
- Visualize the data in a different format. The default visualization is a simple table. You can visualize the data in a pie chart, a bar chart, a comparison chart, and a pivot table.
With the full report, you can begin analyzing and extracting insights from your Google Analytics data.
